Some home based businesses are all about high pressure selling. After you approach your warm market about your home based business opportunity, now what do you do? Does your upline have any suggestions? Have they told you to buy leads to build your business? We all know that we need a constant stream of people to talk to on a daily basis if we want to be successful. But are buying leads the best way to do this?
Buying leads is not the best way to build your home based business opportunity. Why? You may have heard that the conversion rate for home business entrepreneurs when buying leads is just 3%. This means that if you buy 100 leads you might be able to make 3 sales. Actually, this is really not true at all. The 3% is actually people who will even talk to you about it. Everyone else will call you names, ask why you are bothering them, and ask how you got hold of a phone number that is on the do-not-call list. Some people will even report you, and this can get you booted out of your home based business opportunity. Now, if you want to know about actual conversion? That is another story. If you are very lucky, maybe out of every two thousand or three thousand leads you will get one actual conversion.
In actuality, the success rate with leads can be very poor. Many people buy leads and get zero results from calling those leads. I spoke with many people who told me that they have bought $1,000 in leads and didn’t get one sale. This is not uncommon, do your research and talk to people who have bought these leads lists and see what their results were. Most people will be embarrassed to tell you their results, but if you tell them you are thinking about buying a leads list they may tell you their real results. Think about this, if someone or a bunch of people who you don’t know start calling you all of a sudden to try and get you to join something, would you really trust them? It is, of course, different if it is something that you originated - something that you were searching for. It is precisely for this reason that leads are a losing proposition.
