How many people do you know of who have wanted to have a home based business? The idea of having a home based business, especially one on the Internet, is very appealing to many people. And one of the reasons it is so enticing is the fact that you can do it “part time”. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Having your own home based business and being able to run it on a part time basis. But do you really think you can make any money at it if you only work at it a few hours per day?
People often have to work long hours to even squeeze out a minimum income when starting out in a business. So if you think that any home based business that is run on a part time basis will make you financially independent, I suggest that you re-think and consider what the term implies. How many people do you know that sell a product or provide a service on a part time basis that are actually financially independent? What these people are doing is working two jobs so they can earn some extra money. And lots of people do this. They may make enough to go on a nice vacation, earn enough to make car payments or just make a few extra dollars to buy some extra goodies for around the house. For some people, they are happy with that because it is all they need.
So what are your reasons for working at your business part time instead of full time? Some people do not go full time because they may be thinking realistically and know that they don’t have enough customers. Maybe they enjoy their day job and the part time business is just a hobby that has the benefit of earning some cash. Maybe it would cost too much money to develop a full time business. There are too many reasons why people only pursue a home based business on a part time basis. But you should always keep in mind that a part time basis will most likely bring part time earnings, and if you are happy with that and like working at it part time, then that is fine.
I know it can be scary to dive in and completely immerse yourself in your home based business. But the point I am trying to make, specifically about an Internet based business, is that if you want to become financially independent, if you want to say goodbye to your boss for good, then you will eventually have to decide between part time and full time. There may be a point at which you will want to work at a regular job part time and then you will be able to devote full-time hours to your home business.
